Whale Tail Pendant w/ Princess Scroll Type 2 & Tapa Type 2
Hawaiian Tapa design pendant engraved with triangle shapes. Thom'sTapa Designs reflect the traditional Polynesian repeating geometric patterns used in old Polynesia to decorate tapa (kapa). Tapa made from pounded tree bark was primarily used for clothing before it was replaced with modern textiles such as cotton. Tapa cloth was painted and decorated by rubbing, stamping, stenciling, smoking, or dyeing.
A Princess Scroll lavishes swirls and lines intermixed with organic shapes and symbols onto Thom’s pendants in intricate patterns of life and love.
