Ancient Hawai’ians made Fish Hooks (makau) from materials such as shell, bone or hardwood. Makau are said to represent strength and fortune, bring good luck, and identify wearers as good providers. Thom Sirivattha's handmade pieces retain the unmistakable makau shape under the luster of precious metals. This large makau is engraved on both sides and highlighted with a striking enamel overlay.
Tapa (kapa) was one of the main textiles throughout Polynesia used for clothing and decoration. The tapa patterns of old bring into the modern age the aesthetics of the past.
